Chloe Lynn is a creative, self-motivated, spirited (and some may say, funny) ballerina graphic designer with over four years of educational experience in layout design, digital illustration and web design.

How’d I Choose My Path?

When I stumbled upon the thought of pursuing graphic design as a career over 10 years ago, I originally did it for the lack of math courses when I entered my first college. However, I later found out that a major requirement of being a designer is to be a master at solving problems. Visual problems. How does one convey a message on a piece of paper no bigger than 8.5 by 11? On a computer screen that’s 1024 pixels by 768 pixels?

While eyes and heart appreciate art; colors, patterns, the bleeding of a marker on sketch paper and choppy brush strokes…my brain loves consistency, pointing out details, reasoning, strategies and order. Which is probably why I excel in designing websites and magazine layouts. I take pleasure in laying out words, graphic elements and pictures to visually communicate my message and well, to just make stuff look nice.

Resume In A Nutshell

I worked over 10 years in the retail business, thus giving me the ability to air fold t-shirts like a pro. While attending a community college in northern New Jersey full time, I continued to work in retail and was a waitress at Chili’s (mostly because of the ‘Nsync baby back rib commercials). I graduated with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in 2004 and had no luck finding a job in my field afterwards. In 2006, I tried my luck as an “office lady” for a financial banking firm in New York City and stayed with them for three years, holding three different job titles until I quit in 2009 to broaden my horizons and pursue my Bachelor’s degree in graphic design. After careful consideration (or an impulsive need for a change of scenery), I packed up my stuff and drove across the country to San Diego, CA to attend The Art Institute of California. I am currently in my last quarter, preparing to graduate in September 2011.
